Genesis 29: Why Did You Say That?
Abraham, for the second time (see Genesis 12), is caught in a statement about Sarah that was a foolish lie (“half-truth”) that put Sarah in danger, put Abimelech in danger, reflected on Abraham’s God, and remains as a sad commentary on Abraham’s weakness. So before we say things, let’s ask if someone will later ask us, “Why did you say that?”
