Exodus 14: The Lord Shall Fight for You
And you shall be quiet. Even when we fight on the Lord’s side, He is doing most of it. But sometimes, we should be quiet and watch. When God took care of the pursuing Egyptians, the Israelites just watched. They were passive meditators. Paul connects these events with baptism in 1 Corinthians 10. When we are baptized, we are passive. A person is burying us in the “watery grave,” but God is doing all of the work. The pursing enemy—sin—is being destroyed by blood. The blood of the Lamb does its work so that when we rise to walk in newness of life, the past has been cleansed. Now read Exodus 14, and “hold your peace”—quietly meditate.
