Genesis 34: This Thing Ought Not to Be Done
This tragic chapter is filled with depravity. The wickedness of rape in the name of love (Shechem against Dinah) is then used as an excuse by her brothers (Simeon and Levi) to murder all of the males in the community! Jacob said it well when he said that his sons had made him stink among the people of the land. And the author’s comment that this thing (rape) ought not to be done is a correct judgment against this sin today, too.
