Exodus 17: Jehovah-Nissi

The victory of Israel over Amalek became an occasion for the Lord to reveal another one of His names. Jehovah is His NAME—as the great I AM Who offers a spiritual relationship to all souls. Nissi is a banner, standard, ensign, pole. It refers to the idea that the cause for which we stand is Jehovah Who Is Our Banner. The same word is used in Numbers 21:8-9 and is used by Jesus in John 3:14-15 to show that the principle is related to Him.
