Genesis 30: More Family Stuff

The multiplication of wives and handmaids (4), children (13) and the friction he had with his father-in-law led to all sorts of family intrigue for Jacob. “Forget” the fact that God’s original plan was one man and one woman for life—that was not the plan in this chapter! So the man-made plan of multiple wives and mothers led to man- (and woman-) made plans for sleeping arrangements, family squabbles, and dishonesty with in-laws. The original plan will have enough trials, sicknesses and temptations—but at least it always works when it is followed!
