Genesis 25: Two Nations

After twenty years of marriage, Isaac and Rebekah were blessed with twin sons (Abraham was 160 at this time). Jacob and Esau were favorite sons, one by each parent (Jacob—Rebekah; Esau—Isaac). This turned out to be one of the great tragedies of the Old Testament as it led to the two brothers/sons living apart—estranged—for many years. Later, when they became nations (Israel and Edom), it turned into hatred for centuries. What we do today in the privacy of our own “tents” will bear fruit from now on.
